It sounds like this author is saying that Christians introduced “Jew-hatred.” As a Christian, I find this to be offensive, divisive, and unhistorical. Many in the early Church WERE Jews and experienced extreme persecution for their beliefs. No TRUE Christian hates Jews or anyone else. As Christians we are commanded to love everyone, even our enemies (Matthew 5:43-44). It’s true that people calling themselves Christians have hated Jews and others, but they are not TRUE Christians. This author fails to recognize the many Christians who have defended persecuted Jews. Some have endured the same persecution or even died doing so. It is my prayer that this author will see the truth!🙏🏼
I think his main focus was on Muslims. He does reference Christians as being the original Jew haters but he does mention their remorse in the 20th century. Almost all Jews do recognize the many Christians who have defended persecuted Jews, and we are deeply appreciative for them.
I see what you’re saying, Lori. I hope you understand that I differentiate between people engaged in “Jew-hatred” who are called Christians and the true Christians who practice the words of Jesus. I mean, you can’t hate Jews and love Jesus, who was born a Jew. 🙂

As I like to remind the so-called Christian Jew haters I encounter daily online (and they never have an answer for the question at the end): "Jesus was a Jew and so were all the apostles, and they preached from the Hebrew bible. The Ten Commandments came from the Jews and so did almost all the moral codes of Western Civilization. The Last Supper was Jesus celebrating Passover. Jesus was a Jewish Rabbi. When he died, his mother, Mary, buried him in a Jewish burial according to Jewish tradition. There is no Christianity without Judaism. Ask yourself this: "Why did Jesus/God come to earth as a Jew? Why not as one of the pagan religions? Why would GOD choose to reveal Himself as a JEW?"

Respectfully, this isn’t a neutral academic take on Islamic theology. It reads more like a political argument dressed up in theology.
A few things worth pushing back on. The Quran doesn’t treat the Children of Israel as some rival to be erased. It says the opposite in several places: “O Children of Israel, remember My favor which I bestowed upon you and that I preferred you over the worlds” (2:47, 2:122). It also affirms that Jews were given scripture, judgment and prophethood, and were favored above the nations (45:16). And on a very practical level, food prepared by the People of the Book, meaning Jews and Christians, is explicitly declared lawful for Muslims (5:5). That’s basically why kosher food is treated as halal for us. Not exactly the language you’d expect from a religion trying to theologically wipe out its “competitor.”
The bigger issue with this piece is that it treats Hadith as if it carries the same weight as the Quran. Hadith are human accounts, compiled generations after Muhammad, with varying levels of authenticity and plenty of internal disagreement among Muslims about which ones are even reliable. If you actually want to know what Islamic theology teaches, you go to the Quran itself, not to eschatological folklore collected decades or centuries later. This is the same move people make when they quote harsh lines from the Talmud, which is also a human commentary, and present it as “what Judaism believes” about non-Jews. I’d guess the author would reject that logic being applied to his own tradition, so it shouldn’t be applied to mine either.
