This is why most young people don't know which river or which sea they're chanting about, don't know that the Palestinians have rejected every peace deal going back 90 years, and don't know that every one of their leaders has stated their goals simply and clearly: not their own state, but the destruction of the Jewish state.
To penetrate the massive cloud of lies and propaganda would mean doing your own reading and thinking and being willing to point out that the Anti-Zionist campus Emperor has no clothes (except maybe a keffiyeh)—this is asking a lot of most people, especially when clicking that next TikTok and going along with the herd is much easier and more rewarding.

Good essay. In regard to “We just want peace" - the disingenuousness of this statement becomes obvious when no one says a word about any other suffering UNLESS it is the result of a conflict with Israel. Iran? silence. Nigeria? silence. And on and on.

When someone says "we just want peace" in this context, what they are really saying is "i would like to open this dialogue by asserting that I am a better person than you, and as such I want peace more than you do." A part of the problem, in my view, is that philosophy courses, which were once abundant in college curricula, are slowly being destroyed through attrition. It is in philosophy where students learn to become familiar with ethical theories and principles. It is also in philosophy that critical thinking skills and dispositions are specifically taught and emphasized. As mentioned in this superb article, these people who castigate Israel and Jews suffer from moral failure. The fact that their reasoning skills are so poor and that they cannot engage in rational debate shows a complete lack of critical thinking and independent thought. I'm pretty sure that the antisemitism the author describes must be based on ethical relativism, projection, and refusal to acknowledge the guilt they and/or their relatives should take responsibility for when it comes to the treatment of Jews.
