This is the most beautiful and amazing article that,I’ve read in a very long time. Bravo for covering this topic and this amazing man. I live in Montréal where we have a pretty strong community, I think the success is particularly due to our large Sephardic community. We do have some great young people like him. The response was perfection.

"A Jewish American was spat on for wearing a yarmulke." This reminds me of how Vietnam veterans were treated long ago as we were spat on and routinely called baby killers which happened to me. We were all doing our duty and since the anti-war creeps, most of whom were well-to-do college students who didn't want to get drafted, couldn't get the politicians to listen so they took it out on those of us in uniform. Jews, either you stand up for yourselves or expect this violence to massively increase. The Shoah occurred because Jews of that era hoped that they wouldn't be treated violently since they saw themselves as Germans but they were wrong, unfortunately. Stand tall, my Jewish friends.

We try to defend ourselves, but we are vastly outnumbered and outspent on social media and in politics. Qatari/Islamist money is also corrupting our elite universities and even now giving money to elementary schools to teach the hoax of "Palestinianism," and obliquely teaching Jew hate. We greatly appreciate your support, Richard, and need many more people like you!

Unity and a coherent narrative. Yes, Qatar is spending money to defame Jews but that doesn't mean you guys wring your hands and do nothing. Use the unity of 1948 Israel as an example. They really had nothing relative to the Arab armies but still prevailed. Drive on, regardless!

Liz's avatar

Yes. It is time that Jews in the diaspora stop being defensive when challenged about Israel and all the accusations against it (and de facto, against the diasporic Zionists). We must announce our loyalty to our country and turn the argument on the inquisitor. “Why are you focussed on what is going on outside this country?” We have allowed the Jew haters to control the narrative for too long.

Dana Ramos's avatar

In answer to the question, "Why are you focused on what is going on outside this country?" or, "Why the obsessive, double-standards concerning Israel," the Jew haters always launch into tropes like, "Because Israel is controlling our politics, AIPAC money is corrupting America, and even, "Israel is assassinating Americans who are anti-Zionist; they killed Charlie Kirk because he was 'turning against' Israel." There is NO winning ANY argument with a Jew hater; they will reject any and all facts and stick with their lies in order to validate their hatred.

Liz's avatar

Agreed. Arguing with a Jew hater is difficult and generally pointless. Their conspiracy clusters are embedded.

Dana Ramos's avatar

Yes, and the worst part is that the haters are literally told/brainwashed to "never trust anything Israel or Jews claim." That means they trust the body counts of Gaza put out by Hamas and anything else the terrorists claim. They even claim that video that Hamas themselves live-streamed during the massacre is "fake AI stuff from Israel." They even go as far as to say ISRAEL planned and executed the Oct. 7th massacre. Anything bad that happens to a Jew --even Bondi Beach--they will say "false flag operation," and that it was planned by Mossad.

Liz's avatar

Getting personal is not always an effective tactic. However sometimes it is possible to redirect the conversation by suggesting the antagonist has been used by sinister third parties to deflect eyes away from the real issue. Conspiracists are so paranoid it may encourage them to consider a conspiracy within a conspiracy 🤣

Read with pride and relief that such young people exist. Thank you.

We can criticize and dissect this little Jew all we want. He stood up in bloody American Congress and told them about American antisemitism and took no bullshit. A blessing on his head!

I'm going to proffer what may be an unpopular opinion on Mr. Kestenbaum, which is that by "entering into a confidential settlement with Harvard", Shabbos took good care of himself, but did nothing to solve the underlying problem. No one but the principals know exactly what's in the agreement, but in this case, my guess is that it was a check from Harvard with seven or 8 digits before the decimal point.

No emails or texts from Harvard officials, administrators or students were exposed, firmly identifying those in power who helped foster, create or perpetrate an environment that tormented and abusedJewish students. No one resigned. No one was fired. No one was demoted. No one isn't getting tenure. No one was expelled.

Harvard cut a check that probably doesn't amount to one day's annual earnings from their massive, untaxed, multi-billion-dollar endowment. And the perpetrators will still go one to be members of Congress, Presidents of the United States, Supreme Court Justices, and professors at other ivy League institutions. And the cycle will continue.

ASP's avatar

And At least two statements were troubling in Kestenbaum's presentation:

1. He said that Boller's Hamas lapel pin was the "flag of a foreign county," thus granting nationhood to the terrorist organization, and then

2. He said he "didn't care" if aid were cut to Israel. Really? He needed to establish his bona fides by separating himself from US support for Israel?

We Jews are in a truly bad state when that's the best we can do when a lone person finally speaks up .

Robin Alexander's avatar

As far as aid, Israel is gearing up to rely less and less on US aid, so I've read. It cannot worry about such things. And it certainly has the capability to do it alone, without antagonizing its ally, of course. I think that's what he was getting at. As far as the "flag of a foreign country" that is what SHE undoubtedly thinks, so the point was to show that she had divided loyalties.

ASP's avatar

If Israel chooses to lessen or forego dependence on US aid, that's its decision. Saying that one "doesn't care" if US aid were cut, is a position that neither Israel nor its supporters would take.

Nor did Kestenbaum give any indication that calling Hamas a foreign country was a false characterization made by the likes of Boller. The statement was his alone.

Israel has been the constant victim of the sloppy language of its supporters.

e.g. calling Judea and Samaria the West Bank; referring to "occupied" territories rather than disputed ones- or, better yet, simply "territories;" calling areas "settlements " only when Jews live there. They simply become towns when Arabs live in them.

Robin Alexander's avatar

You make some good points.

Bobby's avatar

If you are assuming personal financial gain from his testimony and case against Harvard, I say good for him. He put in the work and as a member of Western civilization, I say he earned it.

Robert's avatar

I'm simply saying that he traded the certitude of his settlement money against the opportunity to help make real change to the corrupt and immoral system that made life a daily hell for his fellow Jewish students. Yes, good for him. I just don't find that/him as ennobling as the article seemed to suggest. Others are entitled to their own opinion.

ASP's avatar

More like "shame on him" rather than "good for him." He seems to be the latest incarnation of Esau - essentially selling his birthright ( i.e. defending the issues and principals that presumably were the basis for his lawsuit) for a mess of pottage (a financial payoff).

Boller was dismissed from her position - fired - by the Chairman of the commission, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick.

Her qualifications were that she is a former model and a right-wing “influencer.”

After being fired she immediately reached out to other Catholics, including J D Vance, Marco Rubio, and Ron DeSantis asking that they choose between Israel and the US.

Her calls were echoed by other anti-Semitic Catholics.

Laura's avatar

Does she ask them to choose between let's say Britain and the US? Or Canada or France, Japan, South Korea or any number of nations we are allied with and which we actually have troops on the ground in those countries to defend them?

Why exactly is our alliance with Israel considered controversial any more than our alliances with other nations even nations which are not free?

We all know the answer to that.

Larry's avatar

The US alliance with France dates back to the American Revolution, and that was the only time they provided valuable assistance.

An amazing piece, but I do confer with Robert. The financial settlement still kept all the power player perpetrators hidden and protected. All the students, all the faculty and any other collaborators (including those who funded the campus antisemitism) should have been "outted." Daylight is the best disinfectant.

The only comfort I take is having a profound belief in a final day of reckoning.

To say the least, I'm quite world weary of all the garbage I see occurring in the world today.

Alex Bee's avatar

I did wonder why, having seen on our news here(the U.K./Scotland)so much coverage about the Harvard situation and the things which happened, there was a distinct lack of coverage of what happened to the perpetrators: surely some kind of news, saying what happened to them, were they punished, etc. That a confidentiality agreement was signed suggests that there may have been some sort of arrangement to hide and protect the students and staff who took part… and that’s so wrong. Yes, the piece is excellent, but if the price was agreement to a coverup, that is, to say the least, somewhat counterproductive. As you say, Sharon, at the very least they should have been “outed”.

Kastenbaum crushed Prejean Boller. What a wonderful young man. The irony of wearing a "palestinian" flag pin while accusing the Jewish members of the panel of representing a foreign nation was totally lost on her. Jew-haters are so dumb and outmatched.

Warren Hoskins's avatar

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention (this side of the pond - England)

What an amazing young bloke. Humanity should be proud to have such people in our midst

Harvard should be so ashamed - funding from Qatar ? - so all morality goes out the door !

Freedom Lover's avatar

Shabbos is a real inspiration and gives us hope but he is one man. I pray there are a myriad of young Jews out there ready to get together with our gentile allies and fight this scourge. And I hope that includes many Jews who are not religiously observant. Today's Jewish leadership has failed us utterly.

james rose's avatar

This article, as much as any I have ever read, explains the mechanism of antizionist propaganda. To call Prejean anything more than a useful idiot, it's probably a compliment, but what is useful is how clumsily she stumbled into the playbook, exposing it as clearly as it ever has been.

This non-apologetic generation of Jews deserve the praise of all of us. Thank you for the essay and enlightening viewpoint.

Hopefully American public will read this post and understand what has actually happened to the American education system.

It has been hijacked by foreign petro-dollars.

Refusing to be distracted. Refusing to be trapped.

Quite a young man with a brilliant future. It was a pleasure reading about him. Thank you for shining a light on him.
