In his films, Alfred Hitchcock used a plot device called a MacGuffin, which is defined as an object, device, or event that is necessary to the plot and the motivation of the characters, but insignificant, unimportant, or irrelevant in itself.

And for Westerners of the Social Justice faith, their entire cast of rotating sacred victims—the black and brown, the Trans child, the migrant, the mythical Palestinian and especially their children and infants—are also a MacGuffin, meaning that their actual welfare and circumstances are only a pretext, whereas the real goal is for the Westerner to parade their moral vanity, display how kind, wise and compassionate they are (esp as compared to their political enemies) and to appropriate the suffering of distant strangers in the hope of increasing their social and political power.

This is easy to prove: when all the cool kids were chanting "Defund the Police", supposedly as a way to help poor black people, did anyone consult them? Did anyone happen to notice that this was a very unpopular idea among the sacred victims the saviors were claiming to speak on behalf of? That no one in a dangerous neighborhood wants FEWER cops!?

And now of course there's the newest must-have item for our age of conspicuous compassion, the Palestinian child or infant. When chanting "Free Palestine" does anyone stop to ask—free them from what exactly? How could any Palestinian be free when they're ruled by a theocratic kleptocratic dictatorship? Is Israel really the cause of Palestinian misery or could it be the world's worst leaders combined with a culture fixated on toxic Jew hate? But to ask hard questions is to face a complicated reality, whereas to join a mob and chant simplistic slogans makes the chanters feel righteous and SEEN.

The Palestinians are simply the latest MacGuffin of the Social Justice faith and the social media age, where the suffering of distant strangers is a valuable resource that also serves as a trendy commodity for people hoping to get ahead by publicly atoning. The victims and their circumstances are irrelevant, all that matters is the crusade for attention disguised as a political cause.

Brilliant. Someone else wrote someplace that the trans phenomenon is a way for white middle / upper middle class "privileged" people to move up a few steps on the woke victim ladder.

I think it's a way for young white liberals to shed the stigma they feel about "privilege", especially if they have well-off parents.

They can't transition into being black or poor or Palestinian, but Trans is a sacred category open to everyone. Trans children are the martyrs of the Social Justice faith, never to be interrogated, only lauded and supported.

I'm glad that when I was a kid, the only thing we cut off to look cool was hair! ;)

It’s an ideology that not only never logically coheres, but it’s profoundly racist as well. Have you ever noticed how “vaguely brown” people are never the oppressors - e.g., tell a person on the Left how Islam (historically Arabs) is, over time, the most oppressive regime in history, and they’ll look at you in stunned bewilderment (or more likely they’ll scream at you for being racist, which is clearly a projection of their own reverse racism).

PS - and that’ll happen before you even have the chance to point out that Islam is not a race, and that the world has never had a problem with non-Muslim Arabs.

Believe me, I have seen this first hand. My own “brownness” is disqualified the minute it’s realized that I’m a Jew who doesn’t pass their litmus test.

Yup… and the “whiteness” of many Muslims is also discounted. It’s a completely illogical ideology.

Just watch - if these morons ever turn their gaze to Korea, South Korea will become a western proxy that deserves to be annihilated by the “oppressed brown people” in North Korea. 😅

So very true. Jews are essentially ‘white’, didn’t you know? In my country (NZ) political leaders who are brown get away with anything. Others, who are of similar ethnicity, but have whiter skin, are hammered by the media. The same way only whites have ever been slavers. If you want to be a real victim, you need to tick the correct boxes. But never forget the order of priority: Brown? Victim! Indigenous? Oh yes! Gay? That helps too in the west. Unless you’re Jewish & any of the above. Then you’re always just an evil, white coloniser.

It’s bizarre to me how this woke mind virus has spread throughout the western world. Is it social media or did the same cabal of Marxist professors spread all over the developed world or…?

Yup, it’s weird all right. Maybe the Russians, Chinese (& Qataris??) are funding the drive to destroy the West from inside? Who knows, I still find it hard to believe people can be so thick and accept the nonsense. Still, a key factor has been a succession of weak-as-piss ‘kind’ leaders in the West who have indulged this BS. A few early ‘oh fuck off you losers’ would have helped nip this idiocy in the bud.

Yes, and I just recently learned that many native Americans were slave owners, and the Mayans loved to cut off the heads of those they beat in war and throw them down those stepped structures. How come we never learned about these things? (I graduated H.S in 1973).

I’ve noticed something in myself. Even as a Jew, I am more inclined to share this gentleman’s writing than I would be someone who is just Jewish or Israeli. Somehow you have to have another, acceptable minority voice in order to be given lip service. It needs more thought, but I can definitely see how the left’s ideology is influencing my own ideas on acceptability.

"Minorities are only seen as valid if they stay victims. This isn’t some fringe belief; it’s a core component of a worldview that’s growing louder and more accepted."

Actually, it comes from two sources, Critical Theory (CT) and Critical Race Theory (CRT).

CT is a neo-Marxist ideology which emerged in the early 20C from the Frankfort school. Its core principles include:

1) Claiming existing power structures are rooted in historical inequalities and control knowledge, culture, and social norms;

2) Emphasizing social justice and emancipation;

3) Focusing on possibility of social transformation and the need to challenge existing structures to create a more just and equitable future'

4) Linking various disciplines, such as sociology, philosophy, cultural studies, and political science'

5) Emphasizing the importance of putting theory into practice'

6) Claiming that various forms of oppression (e.g., racism, sexism, classism) are interconnected and mutually reinforcing.

The 5 tenets of CRT include:

1) The Centrality and Intersectionality of Race and Racism.

2) Challenge to Dominant Ideology.

3) Commitment to Social Justice.

4) Experiential Knowledge and Counterstorytelling.

5) Interdisciplinary Perspectives.

Note the "intersectionality" between CT and CRT.

" 'Palestine' could have been free."

How do you free a country that already constitutes who you are? It is like saying Iran could have been free. Whether or not it is ruled by Mullahs, it is still Iran. The so-called Palestinian state already exists. The majority of its population are Arabs from British Mandate Palestine. Furthermore, it is carved from 77% of British Mandate Palestine. How much more "Palestinian" can you get than that!

"Statehood was offered. . . . [b]ut again and again . . rejected — because war, martyrdom, and rejectionism were chosen by Palestinians instead." and "their cause has become sacred — not because it demands liberation, but because it refuses it."

Not quite. Statehood was rejected because it that was never their goal. What they seek is the destruction of Israel and the annihilation of its citizenry, as their war cry attests: "Drive the Jews into the sea."

"Liberation is in their hands"

May be unwitting on the author's part, but this statement echoes the popular chant "Free Palestine." This slogan, taken together with all the others routinely chanted in cascading order on the street and campuses is a call to commit genocide — and that against a people who viscerally experienced it less than 100 years ago.

"They are not victims of Zionism; they are victims of Islamist imperialism"

To be more precise, Islamist imperialism means religious supremacism as promised the Faithful in the Qu'uran. See Surah Al-Fath (48:28) and Surah At-Tawbah (9:33).

"If empowerment disqualifies you, then oppression isn’t something these ideologues want to end; it’s something they need to preserve."

Idealogues — actually Islamic religious supremacists — aren't seeking to preserve oppression. Let's call a thing for what it is: they are seeking Power, and the form of power they seek is the power to destroy a sovereign state and cleanse it of its people, in a word, make it Judenrein.

"I’m not embraced unless I . . . denounce my Jewish pride"

The Red-Green Alliance is not condemning your for your pride. They are condemning you for being you — for your Jewishness.

This really had to be said, and I appreciate the clarity of the argument: “Because, in the end, this was never about justice. It was never about protecting minorities. It is about controlling them.”

Of course, this twisted woke ideology allows the forces that run these things to remain relevant; otherwise they’d be out of business. So there’s that.

And then there's my pet theory: Speaking as a boomer, I get it. We basically resolved all the really sexy problems:

Civil rights

Women’s rights

Gay rights

Reproductive rights (more work needed here, obviously).

We got you the 18-year-old vote, birth control pills, Title IX protections for girl’s sports, sexual harassment laws in the workplace, and the sexual revolution for god’s sake. We even opened the Ivies to women for the first time. You’re welcome.

Ask yourselves why our government is giving the terrorist regime of Israel which no longer has any allegiance to morality and the history of Jews so much money to kill all of its neighbors in order to steal their lands while Americans are suffering.

Because Netanyahu is on the Epstein list as a John Doe with Donald Trump and our government is being paid off to be silent.

LOL. Hey, it's possible. Anything's possible, but if Netanyahu is on the list as a John Doe, how do you know it's him?

Also, such an interesting theory that has Israel paying the U.S. for a change, instead of receiving what Candace Owens called "welfare."

"“Palestine” could have been free. Peace was offered. Statehood was offered. Coexistence was possible. But again and again, it was rejected — because war, martyrdom, and rejectionism were chosen by Palestinians instead."

From their point of view, Palestinians are fulfilling their religious obligation to Islam by fighting to subjugate or destroy the "infidel" Jews. They are pursuing jihad, holy war, against the Qoran-noncompliant Jews. Peace, statehood, and coexistence was never what they wanted. Islamic supremacy is mandated by the Qoran, and in practice that means conquest of the Jews (and Christians too, as is proceeding in Europe).
