When will at least one of Joshua’s brilliant essays be published in a “mainstream” media outlet? The Free Press? The Wall Street Journal (edited for length)? The New York Times? LOL.
I love Bari so I am not writing about her. Every morning and afternoon, I turn to Future of Jewish to keep learning. His writing is brilliant. I agree, that we need to encourage Joshua to send his articles to a publication with a wider audience.
Thank you for another brilliant set of observations. One stunning characteristic of the “nonsupporters” is their extreme lack of maturity. Their simplistic world view cannot tolerate opposition or allow reflection, and the tantrums they throw reveal their inability to reason and refusal to grow and accept reality. It’s all about attention without responsibility.
Bravo, Joshua. I wish those renegades would see the bigger picture. They might counter that they indeed support their civilisation. They support, they would say, the US. Same values. But in so many of the Israel non-supporters is the woke oppressor-oppressed mantra, and their Middle-Eastern politics of Israel’s contested legitimacy. Moreover, back before 1948, there were Jews strongly opposed to a state, both secular and ultra orthodox( those continue to this day, though the ones in Israel take advantage of every possible gain they can snatch from the government and those who die for the state).
We, Jews, have a long history of disagreement, much of it resulting in bloodshed. I sponsored the English translation of the book “ The Jewish March of Folly” by Amotz Asa-El, which should be published soon.
Of course Western civilisation matters - and Israel is the outlying bulwark, the first / final line of defence.
Two points:
1. Hypothetically, if the haters, the antisemitic haters got their way, and somehow, Israel were no more - is anyone delusional enough to think that would make things right? That everyone would suddenly start 'being kind' to everyone else? That antisemitic hate marches would just stop and there would be multicultural - multi-religious parties and festivals in mosques up and down England? Or France? Or Germany? Or Sweden? Of course not - the Muslim Brotherhood, the Muslim Council of Britain, the Muslim Vote - they would still be preaching their concept of a worldwide caliphate and working towards it. The remarkable thing is that all their documentation, all their speakers openly admit it - and yet somehow, our 'Leaders' still pretend these people are actually just misunderstood. That's where this article is spot on - it's about CORE VALUES, and the core values of Islam are utterly incompatible with those of the West.
2. I can confidently confirm that I have never yet encountered any Anti-Israeli / Anti-Jewish / Anti-Zionist / Anti Semitic conversation or viewpoint anywhere, ever in 'normal' society.
Quite the opposite.
Antisemitism / Antizionism (same thing) are alive on social media, and also alive on the hate marches, alive on all 'demonstrations' involving the Religion of Peace', but I genuinely believe these people are a minority, actually a small minority who make a lot of noise and who are tacitly supported by the mainstream media and our 'establishment'. The problem really is our spineless and/or dishonest Western Leaders and politicians generally who cannot see past the Muslim votes necessary for re-election and of course also the virtue signalling of so-called international law. Once again, we arrive at the same point - Western Leaders are twisting, bastardising and ignoring our own core values in order to fit in with those of Islam. Of course, a cynic might wonder whether all this is initiated, supported, enthused by WEF Globalists as part of genuinely destroying Western nationalism . . .
I have always supported Israel, and I believe I am in the majority.
The West has unfortunately lost their moral compass. Ethics, values, of their ancestors' civilized societies. Tragically, the West's obsession is: Only Israel is not allowed to be offensive against attacks by aggressors, win wars, defend its citizens.🇮🇱
Thank you, Joshua, for calling this out so forcefully. It always sticks in my craw when I read words like, "I'm not saying that's Israel's perfect, but..." or "I fully support Israel's right to exist, but..." Apologizing for the fact that you exist before you even state your case does nothing to enhance your credibility. It just shows that you have been intimidated by the hate campaigns against Israel, and you are speaking from a place of intimidation.
Or, worse, it identifies you as one of the virtue-signaling schmucks or schmuckettes who repudiate obvious truths along with their own identify in a craven plea for acceptance by the Others. Jews, and those who would speak on their behalf, need to practice standing up straight and stop putting a "KICK ME" sign on their backs that scores them absolutely no points.
Perfectly stated. The “no supporters” could be lying because they have financial gains in doing so or exhibit sometimes hidden Jew hatred or have no knowledge of religion or history including their own, Western one. Israel ha handful of enemies.
The reason people come to the West is that is where the money is. Many migrants also go to Qatar and Gulf states, to earn money. I doubt freedom speech is first thing in mind of a lot of poor third world migrants washing up in Western shores. We are not talking about Thomas Mann landing in Princeton here.
I think you meant to say “unwilling”;;;;The critics may not like this, but the alternative to a society WILLING “to defend itself is not peace; it’s surrender. And surrender means going backwards to socialism, communism, totalitarianism, and theocracies.
"THEY", the dangerous IDIOTS, the "Israel Critics", they can ALL go to their BELOVED "Suppressed by the West"-Islam Patriarchalism COLONIST SLAVEHOLDER countries, then they can "PROTEST" there and all vanish in the prisons there, raped, slaughtered misused as their FRIENDS did on October 07 to Jews. THEN they´ll KNOW, but it will be too late, as soon it will be for the whole "West" if it continues that way. Which worth have "Nobel Prizes" for Malala Yousafzai or Salman Rushdie as long as IDIOTS like "George Clooney", "Tilda Swinton" or Mamdummy are allowed to have their say ?
In addition, I can see this analysis in the WSJ, especially the comparisons to the US and our shared values. It is the 250th anniversary of our founding. More people need to read these thoughts, especially some people at my synagogue.
Saying "I don't support Israel" is just fancy verbiage for meaning that you don't support the existence of half of world Jewry. And most likely implies that you don't support all Jews anywhere.

It might destroy the sluggish "family content" of infamous "Bari Weiss".
You mean I'm not the only one who is less than thrilled by Bari and Nellie's cozy chit-chat about their domestic travails?
I am very satisfied with reading "Free Press" when I go to bed, it guarantees good sleeping.

I’m guessing he’s tried.
Might have a better chance with Tablet or Commentary, but their circulation is limited.

I do not believe the bad guys will win.
