Interesting essay and presentation of history previously unknown to me. I learned much about John Steinbeck, and about events in Israel going back to 1858. A fascinating and tragic read.

Unfortunately this sort of attack, killing, violating, stealing, was repeated multiple times by the Arabs to Jews and Christians......The 7th October, 2023 barbaric attack to Israel, was no different.....and the worst part was, people siding with the murderers. Rapists, kidnappers!.....

It was indeed a miracle. And how strange it is that so many people, particularly Israeli Jews, disregard or disbelieve that initial miracle, as well as so many others.
But, what is truly sad and sobering, is that, failing to recognize the hand of G-d, such people then add insult to injury by taking credit for the miracles infused within modern Israel.

The more I read about Muslims and Islam the more I think the Crusades was a noble endeavor notwitwstanding the fact that there is plenty of history of Christian mistreatment of Jews. Great article. I have read much of Steinbeck’s works but knew nothing of his family history.
