Leave is what’s going to happen. Fact is, it’s already happening. Jews want to live their lives with peace of mind, like most people everywhere. Who in his right mind would want to raise children in an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty? We’re not going to go to war to re-fight a battle that we’ve already lost. It’s a shame for what will become of NYC but that isn’t our responsibility. The majority of the city’s people have spoken, they are just fine with a thoroughly antisemitic leader. We Jews already know through hard won experience what trying to accommodate a hater like Mamdani will cost. It isn’t remotely worth it while friendly shores still await us. There is no prize at the bottom of this cracker jack box waiting for us if we choose to dig in and fight. And we shouldn’t.

I want the 30% of liberal Jews who voted for him to stay. You shouldn't be able to foul your own nest and run off and wreck someplace else.

In addition, the foolish New Yorkers who voted for this Jew hating, cop-hating, terrorist-loving, decarceration, commie need to be punished by losing the wealth, genius, and boundless contributions and productivity of its best and brightest. It will serve as a cautionary tale to the rest of the country lest the virus of “democratic socialism” spread.

OMG yes!!!!! What is wrong with the Jews who voted for him? I can't understand it. We've had two years of seeing what the left actually thinks of us. How didn't it sink in? Take your families (I'm retired, living in WPB) and move your dollars AND your college-bound kids to other cities / towns / suburban areas AND universities. Forget about the ivy leagues and focus on contributing to a new league.

I agree with you. The city will not be the same without its Jews. Good. In fact, open a new professional theater district in NJ; even restaurants can be moved; office / factory businesses for sure.

For New Yorkers, there is something called a "Byrna". It's like a gun but it's not a regular firearm. It shoots CO2 cartridges. Doesn't kill anybody but pops the cartridges. You don't need genuine firearms with Byrna. But they still work. I'm thinking about the Byrna being there when maybe a group of Jewish people are being harassed - the Byrna could stop that cold.

I suggest Alliyah. Jews are no longer safe in the US or anywhere else. The Democrats are the most anti-Semitic party since the Nazis, and they could return to power in 2028.

I've heard this from other Jews, but if advise against this option. As younger voters in the United States inevitably begin to cast their ballots for other Jew haters, military support for Israel could easily evaporate. Without US support, Israel is a sitting duck.

Eventually Muslims will realize that exploding a dirty nuclear bomb in Israel will instantly take care of half the world's Jews. They don't care that it's a war crime. They don't care that hundreds of thousands of Muslims will also die. They are the blessed martyrs going to paradise.

In 15-or-so years, the world will have moved on, exactly like when Germany murdered half the world's Jews.

The last thing Jews need is to put all their (literal) eggs in one basket. I suggest moving to a red city in a red county in a red state. Maybe somewhere in Texas, Tennessee, Florida or Arkansas. They seem to like Jews in those places.

I understand your concern about concentration. However, I think there is safety in numbers and that the risk elsewhere is too high. Israel will always need to be ultra-vigilant against terrorism and conventional and nuclear attack.

I think it's time to reconstitute the JDL (under a different name; the JDL per se seems to have burned out.)

Curtis Sliwa is looking for a job and has good experience in this area, so he might be a good hire.

Best answer here! I've been saying this for years. People need to be made to become afraid to be openly antisemitic, both economically and, with this new group, physically.

Jews have to make sure he fails in all his attempts at influencing education, as his agenda is to transmit Islamization.

Jews also must fight his professed goal of forbidding " Islamophobia". A fear of Islam is a perfectly rational attitude, thus it's not a " phobia", which is by definition irrational. This should be explained to him, and his ambition to control speech should be defeated. People should be able to continue to exercise their free speech rights . Mamdani's intentions are un-American, not just anti-Jewish and anti-Israel.

It's not just about protecting our Jews physically, but averting the noxious attempt of Mamdani to promote Islam . And who knows what else.

The Islamic world is celebrating a victory now. They believe October 7 created this victory, of Mamdani controlling NYC.

They see it as proof that the West is falling and will be conquered by Islam. Mamdani has been public about his Islamic loyalty above any regard for the US. Just listen to his speech about defeating oligarchy. His campaign was heavily financed by CAIR, the Islamic Center, his most substantial donor.

The Jews are indeed at the forefront of a Herculean task of defending not only Jews, Israel, NY and the US, but our place in Western civilization, one that Mamdani uses and scorns .

Well Ben, considering your ‘pedigree’ I suspect that my comments might fall on deaf ears. To set the stage, I will say that I, as a Conservative Jew, consider Mamdani a complete and total antisemite, one that will not, like a leopard, change any of his spots anytime soon. I am also a Democrat, not a Socialist, and can surmise from history that Socialism does not work and holds no place in our capitalistic society. I also love NYC and hold no illusions that there are many ways in which this incredible city can improve. To be sure, the naive/clueless progressives who elected him have no awareness that NYC and NY State supports much of the financial stability of our entire country. Without us, there would be no United States. Without a thriving NYC, the majority of Mamdani’s constituency would not survive. It is laughable to hear them chant ‘tax the rich’. Reminds me of the fable of Robin Hood. Getting back to the Jews, I think our options are more of a hybrid approach to the four you outlined. This election was very far from a mandate; adding up the votes for Cuomo & Sliwa puts the city at 50-50. So there is 50% of NYC who will not buy what Mamdani is selling. Therefore patient & strategic QUIESCENCE is the first step. Let’s see what he try’s to do. For much of what he is proposing a Mayor does not have the power over, it’s the Governor. That’s the person we have to pressure. She holds the legal power to reject the insanity he is peddling. By the way, I do deeply resent your characterization of our leaders….hmmm, not too far from the Israeli ones, huh? I do agree that if Mamdani incites violence against us, we need to quickly move to ORGANIZE & RESIST, but I totally reject your suggestions of Arming & Violence. That position makes us no better than the lowest, most uneducated & unproductive. Finally, FLIGHT is the most unacceptable. We must be clear about this from the get-go. No one has the power over us to make us leave. We are here, we are staying here, we are strong and we will persevere.

Jews would do well to take a page out of the black experience in the US:

First they boycotted. Then they had sit-ins. Then they marched. Finally, they took matters into their own hands. The rest is history.

I hear you, I hear you, but . . . you can vote with your feet. In other words, if well-off Jewish professionals all vacate, their tax dollars go as well. I'm not advocating selling those fabulous brownstones or other homes. If you're wealthy enough, you can rent them out to trustworthy friends/acquaintances, and move across the river to Jersey. IF you are the owner of a portable type business -- in an office -- you move that as well. Now, you don't pay corporate tax in NYC, and you don't pay NYC income tax. What's bad about that? All of his 2% raises won't matter then. After he loses in four years, you come back. (I know this doesn't help restaurant owners or any non-portable businesses, but if you can do it, why not?).

Organize; absolutely. Every jew should be involved.

As re the other 3 options, that depends on the individual's/families' circumstances and preferences.

Most Jewish communities had members with US military and/or IDF experience who should help set-up self-defense programs, and JDL-type community protection.

The power of the Word, (Reason and Argument, with good counter-intelligence) ALWAYS trumps physical resistance (violence). The Law will deal with Antisemitic street-thugs. This is how they have been defeated here in The UK. Thus, Providing the Jews in New York position themselves in the right, we will win.

SR's avatar

If the UK is victory I'd hate to see defeat. Weren't Muslim thugs going "zionist hunting" around the Aston Villa soccer game just today? There are commonalities with NYC though- you can't get a firearm to protect your faith and family and now with Mamdani the cops will be handcuffed even more then they already are. At least Florida has excellent firearms laws and great sheriffs like Grady Judd. He was asked once why his deputies shot some cop killer 68 times and he answered "thats all the bullets we had".
