Hen, excellent article. It really does feel like the old Middle East is dying and something far more pragmatic is beginning to emerge. What Iran and its proxies hoped would isolate Israel may be doing the exact opposite — pushing pragmatic Arab states closer to Israel because they recognize the same threat.

And if the Iranian regime were ever to collapse and be replaced by a more moderate government that wanted peace rather than permanent revolution, imagine what that could mean for the region. That would completely reshape the Middle East in the best possible way. For all the darkness of the past few years, we may actually be standing on the edge of something far better.

It is now up to the Trump administration to stop playing games with the Iranian mullahs and finish off the regime once and for all. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to remove a malignant apocalyptic government that has spread terror across the globe and which will never give up its nuclear enrichment, its ballistic missiles and its terror proxies like Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis. The regime is run by 12er Shia fanatics who will use nuclear weapons to hasten the End Times and the return of the Mahdi. Anyone who does not know and understand this—and act upon it—should not be in charge of a country. Forget ceasefires and negotiations. You cannot negotiate with those who see salvation in the end of the world.

I agree with you on every point you made well said

Mike Williams's avatar

You nailed that rationale right on the head. I've made the same points and you like me know it's true because the Iranian Mullahs themselves have actually said this, bit is their modus operandi yet I still get leftists telling me This is crap and about how many times Trump or Bibi has said Iran is this close to developing but nothing has happened without acknowledging I think that Israel has on I think at least 5 or 6 different occasions over the past 15 -20 years done covert ops to severely disrupt and destroy the Iranian nuclear programmed, the Stuxnet virus being the most prominent action but so many do not understand Shia theology and the real intent. And the the doctrine of MAD is completely redundant when the people trying to get the bomb actually want their own destruction and the mass murder of literally millions of people to fulfill prophecy.

Totally on the money but just wait, some lefty will argue with you and I that we're full of it and since the Pakistanis got the bomb, they've not tried to blow up Israel but Pakistan is Sunni and had India as a counter, they are not 12er driven....

Thank you. This is really interesting, and very good to know.

Please forgive this apparent digression, but it ties back to this article.

I’m an Ashkenazi Jew and an American. Not an Israeli Americani, an American Jew. My parents were born in Poland in the 1920’s. My father was “drafted” by the Red Army when they invaded Poland from the East in Sept. 1939. He survived the Battle of Stalingrad, where the Nazis and the Soviets each killed about one million of their enemies. My mother survived Ghettos and a slave labor camp. My grandparents were turned in by their neighbors for a few kilos of salt.

Yet today, Poland is buying Israeli defense technology and Germany is building it, under license from Rafael Industries, in a VW plant that had been operated by Jewish slaves during the war. A VW plant, operated by Jewish slaves during the war, is now in use building Israeli technology for the Germans, Poland, and NATO.

So our personal stories are different; but different branches of the same tree.

And so I almost know what you mean.

I look at the Democrats and see Mamdani. And I look at the Republicans and I see Trump, Vance, Tucker Carlson, Candace Owen’s, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and I shake my head wondering if we will be leaving America like our cousins are leaving U. K., France, Canada, Australia.

Fortunately we have someplace to go.

Perhaps the one lesson we should all learn from 2000 years of exile in Europe and the west (and life as Dhimmi in the Muslim world) is that we were invited in to countries when they wanted our help developing their economies, because the peasants were too uneducated to do it and the nobles didn’t want to get their hands dirty, and we were “invited” out when we weren’t needed anymore, or when our individualism outweighed our usefulness. So keep our assets liquid and keep our go bags packed.

England, 1290. Spain, 1492, Portugal when Spain took it over. France in the 1800’s after the French Revolution when Jews were invited to give up their Jewishness, but found that they couldn’t. Europe and Eastern Europe in the 20th C. And America, Canada, UK, Australia, France, tomorrow? Or sooner?

Larry, your family history is powerful and it's exactly the kind of history that shapes how we all think about the present.

One of the biggest personal changes for me after October 7th is my loss of patriotism for my two homes, Canada and the United States. They are no longer my homes. They are only places I live and used to live because now I realize how quickly things can change. The only real home I have is Israel, even though I've never lived there.

On your broader point, I just add a nuance. In many cases, Jews did not come because they were needed. They actually came because they had nothing and looked for a better life. That part of the story matters too.

And on the political side, I think it's important not to draw false equivalencies. Please do not put Donald Trump or JD Vance in the same category like Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson who are influencers. There has been no better president for the Jewish people than Trump. You would have been far better pointing out Trump, Rubio and Cruz. That really makes up the Republican Party. As far as the Democratic Party goes, that's a completely different story.

That said, your underlying concern is one I think more and more Jews are starting to feel and history is the reason why.

Larry's avatar

You’re right that Trump has been one of the most pro-Israel Presidents. John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson were also pro-Israel. Kennedy was the first US President to sell arms to Israel. Johnson followed his lead.

Larry's avatar

Thanks Frederick. You’re probably right about Rubio. Among the Democrats we have John Fetterman, Ritchie Torres, and Hakim Jeffries. But their voices may not be loud enough, their arguments not compelling enough to overcome the baked in emotions of western (Christian) antisemitism and Soviet / Leftist anti-Zionism.

My concerns with Trump and the Republicans are that they are doing so much damage to the US that it will take years, perhaps decades, for it to recover.

Frederick Tatala's avatar

Larry, many people feel like you do. I don't see it that way. I don't see the damage that Trump and the Republicans are doing, that will take years or decades to recover. I just don't see that. In any case, keep fighting the good fight. Be well my friend

This is excellent! At the end of the day, for all its faults, the UAE model is exponentially more attractive and less destructive than the Islamic regime variety. I also feel a change in the middle east. I am seeing more and more Lebanese speak out against HA and acknowledge the relative peace that existed btwn Israel and Lebanon before the PLO and HA arrived as occupying forces. Thank you for this keen overview!

Well, I need to give my crazy, unhinged American president the credit he deserves for brokering the Abraham Accords. I’m knee-jerking less and less, and paying attention more and more. It’s very complicated, this condition of being human.

It’s the ultimate irony that the Zionist entity is being embraced by it’s long time enemies and their so called “allies” in Europe are their biggest detractors. Not just political, economic and military alliance but maybe, just maybe, some moral clarity.

Quite a surprise I may say. Let's see how this new order develops.

Excellent essay. Yes, a New Middle East is coming --and keep in mind Saudi Arabia was ThisClose to signing the Abraham accords, too, when Hamas struck on Oct. 7, 2023 (which is the main reason Hamas struck when they did--to derail the accords). The Saudis will surely get with the program, as soon as Iran is fully neutralized. I will never forget, just days after Oct. 7th, Netanyahu was being interviewed on TV (I think it was CNN). He was asked (paraphrasing): "Do you think lasting peace [the Abraham accords] with Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region will be out of the question now?" Bibi gave a little smile and had a twinkle in his eye and replied, "To the contrary. When this [the war with Hamas] is all over, the entire region will be more ripe for peace than ever before." At that moment, I realized that this was going to be the moment in history when everything changes in the Mideast, and that it was not going to be just a little "mowing the grass" war that has kept the region locked in the same cycles of terror/war. And here we are, it's unfolding before our eyes and it is all soooo close at hand.

Since 1979, Israel and USA were called the Little Satan and Great Satan, respectively. The world was to pay the “chaos premium” on oil to the City of London’s asset, Lloyd’s of London. We were told to accept the lie that “Palestinians are partners in peace” and “Islam is religion of peace” even after the atrocities of 9-11.

Until October 7, 2023,

the BARBARISM of Islam was hidden from view. The myths of Israeli Intelligence Agencies and strong capabilities of IDF were shattered.

Mossad, Shin Bet, and IDF had had NO human intelligence in Gaza since 2006. Their leaders had all been schooled in USA’s Oslo Accords narrative of “land for peace.”

Like them or hate them, President Trump and PM Netanyahu want victory over Islamic terror, nuclear

Iran, and globalist financial system stealing our future. Victory based on truth, and not enslaved by Islam.

"The context for OPEC is that the cartel is a polite fiction" which reminds me of Mafia leaders getting together to reach agreement on territories or influence. Like the writer I do hope this signals a new relationship in the region but if the Mad Mullahs and the IRGC suddenly disappeared would these same "new partners" still remain so? To Israel, despite your generously helping the folks in Abu Dhabi, keep your powder dry and STAY prepared.

Miracle? Lol!

Israel had always had allies in region.

I thought little of the Abraham Accords and am happy to be proved wrong. One thing I don’t understand, or cannot reconcile, and perhaps one of you can enlighten me. If the UAE is the primary backer of the Houthis, why haven’t they controlled them and their attacks on Israel. Is their animosity for Saudi Arabia that much greater than their desire for peace with Israel?

Aku's avatar

UAE supports the other Yemeni secessionist group called STC that in turn fights Houthis.

Thus, it makes UAE persecutor of Houthis rather than backer. Iran is primary backer of Houthis. It is complicated over there. Both, UAE and Israel recognize and support Somaliland (not to be confused with Somali) on the other side of of Bab-el-Mandeb straights. This will help to keep Houthis in check .
