My American born dad was 'musclejuden' and raised me to be the same. If I am not for myself who will be for me?

Sent it to my much loved Rabbi Amy Bernstein. We have a pre school. She studied with Hartman for several years. We are Reconstruction Jewish. I will send to Facebook group.

OK, pretty harsh on the ADL. I like the idea of physically fit Jews being 'out there'. And agreed, in general today's generation is being raised with a thin skin needing 'safe' spaces, IMO more than in the past. It's going to take a sea change though in the filters that students are taught now re: critical theory and identity politics for antisemitism to be shown for what it is. No easy solutions. Thanks for your article.

Joshua, this is huge. You have been writing and thinking in a different depth since October 7th. I want to tell you that I agree with you. Nothing else will work. I finally visited Israel in 2019. When we were in Tel Aviv and walking to our hotel at the beach, I looked up and saw the most astounding site. Young gorgeous men! Strong, muscular young people running and biking on the boardwalk, even surfing!!! The vitality hits a person immediately! Our children in the US are coddled, little snowflakes. Nebeshes (sp) This is it and needs to change. I immediately joined Mothers fighting antisemitism. But, this is our fight to get physically stronger and psychologically positive! We have an Israeli friend here who said, “life goes on” after October 7th meaning we start over and win. He was special forces in Israel. Thank you for this article.

Also, someone needs to write a book about how to raise an Israeli child!
