Haters denounce Israel as immoral and illegitimate, while relying on Israeli technologies that secure their data, power their platforms, and quietly sustain the modern world they refuse to boycott.
It’s not just individuals who engage in this “moral theater” by boycotting Israeli hummus while relying on Israeli tech to function on a day-to-day basis. European governments are no different. They spew vitriol at Israel and the IDF while buying Israeli military tech to defend their countries and sending their officers to Israel to learn about urban warfare.
Thats exactly correct the USA sent many municipal and county Police officers to train in Israel with the Israeli police on terrorism - after 911 and some call us Israelis "welfare queens"
If more people both Jews and Gentiles would watch one or two testimonies of holocaust survivors from all the "civilized" countries of the 1930s who murdered their Jews or collaborated. The survivors, when living in their towns, thought of themselves as German, Austrian, etc first and yet they also knew that their gentile governments /countries (there were some "few" exceptions) ALWAYS hated Jews - they share that in their testimonies.
Even Monaco turned their Jews over to the Vichy gov, and kept their money - ask Prince Albert who was furious when he found out in 2015. This is nothing new. The USA should be thanking the Jew Hayim Solomon who brokered the US revolution and died a pauper owing funds, which the US never paid back. Yessiree he has a plaque - yet the slur Jew You Down is still used by American politicians...
Both Christianity and Islam spent centuries taking turns in persecuting us... The population of Muslims in Europe in 1933 was negligable, out of the 511 MILLION gentiles who populated Europe vs 9.3 mllion Jews... we had no chance. The same is in the middle east - 422 Million Arabs (both Muslim and Christian) - 10 million Israelis (approximately 7 Million are Jews)
NOW we have a state - and if Jews do not support our state of Israel - it will happen again - have a good look at how many followers the likes of Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens et al... Don Black and the GDL have ....dont be foolish. I speak as a JEW, American born and raised - a gen # 2 and an Israeli by choice - since 1971. The world has only evolved in convenience - but Judenhass has never stopped - it keeps on giving .... Jew haters just use different tropes when they share their conspiracy allegations of deicide etc... just ask Tucker and all the rest of the thousands of podcasters online including their Christian Nationlist pastors . If they could they would attempt to take Israel from the Jews and turn it into a Christian or Muslim country, now that we have a green country with lush trees and skyscrapers.
SUPPORT the MEDINAH, even if you are an "American" Jew, who thinks all is well in the USA for you, your children or grandchildren may have to be airlifted to safety one day .
Another excellent essay and an astute observation of the IDF and the benefits of national service. I myself am a Vietnam veteran and a "victim" of the draft towards the end of that war. While still serving, the U.S. government made the decision to eliminate the draft. I realize that many factors, both good and bad, went into that decision; however, I have always maintained that we lost something as a society as a result. As you said, as a young service member (I was 19 when I entered) one had to learn to work in an unfamiliar, and not necessarily safe, environment. One had to develop the skills to work with people from all sorts of societal and ancestral backgrounds. One had to learn to take orders from people who could be the biggest S.O.B.s in the universe and hope that either he or you got a transfer soon. One had to learn to give orders and get people to work as a team in the same direction. As an old guy now, reflecting on your essay and my life, these skills, learned at a young age, shaped my life. Unfortunately, I also developed some rough edges that my wife, to her everlasting credit, has helped file away over the years. But occasionally, in times of stress or anger, I revert. Like now. She already complained that this is a crude analogy when I mentioned it to her this morning, but here it is. Re the anti-Semites who use Israeli tech while not acknowledging the source, they remind me of the dispicable man who uses a woman as a whore, taking his pleasure whenever it suits his whim while not acknowledging the human being underneath, occasionally beating her when she gets out of line. This has worked for almost 2,000 years, but the woman has finally gotten off her back and said, "That is enough. You will f$&k me no more." And he better beware if he tries to beat her back into line again.
Spot on observation about human behavior. It is certainly not limited to the virtue signalers populating academia, health, politics, law, protesters, cabbies. It extends everywhere beyond fake concern for Arabs and other jihadis and scum. Often, perhaps, it's not noticeable because people aren't often taking a stand on something important (though we're all more vocal and noticeable bc of social media.)
So my question is this: have we started uploading Torah into AI yet? Are we on the verge of Torah-bot to counteract Chat GPT? Is the future going to be a battle of Torah-bot verses Chat GPT? Where is our digital Golem?
Thanks for writing this, it clarifies a lot; you've brilliantly captured the irony of how some protests against innovation are literally powered by it, making the whole situation a rather peculiar algoritm of outrage.
After Holocaust Remembrance. When Jews were powerless and were being systematically brutalized and starved and freezing such as the weather in NYC.....those Jews tried every way to defy the Germans' plan to first dehumanize them. They kept pushing back with underground education and finally fighting....and it was hopeless.....the Germans kept going with death when they were losing the war. So now hating Israel......use Israeli technology to "smash Zionism" What did you say to the Amsterdam driver....was he a white Dutchman? Perhaps with a man bun. When I get in an Uber or taxi no driver starts with "f.....king Zionists." When I tell Muslim drivers I'm Jewish we still have a pleasant we are the world conversation.....2 young Bangla Americans Muslim were listening to me in a restuarant tell my friend how I'm planning another visit to Israel. They didn't shut down our exchange....they just told me they'd enjoyed overhearing my conversation. They are just the age of the disturbers...college youth....My Egyptian neighbor has proved reasonable in our talks. Of all places f...king Amsterdam where I've spent some time. Crossed it off my list long ago.

It must be fear of a “Yiddishe Kopf” combined with a Muscle of an old view.
Proper hypocrisy.
Well said, bravo!
"The Waze app drivers use to avoid traffic? Israeli. The *CENSORS* that promote healthy beehives for commercial crop growers? Israeli."
That's SENSORS!
How true! We in India readily acknowledge this Joshua. Maybe not all, but many ..
Zionist haters have chutzpah for enjoying shakshuka.

Yes I’ve seen some Torah AI apps out there already!
