Every time the left has gained power, whether in Russia or China or Cambodia or Venezuela or Cuba, the leftists in charge immediately turned on what Lenin referred to as 'the useful idiots' and in those countries in which the left had achieved life or death power, they were imprisoned or executed. (Russia under Stalin executed an entire generation of officers in their armed forces and I have read, might well have lost WW2 without America bailing them out because they didn't have any competent military leaders for those armed forces at the start of the war.)
