I love Israel not because she is flawless, but because she is ours. If we're not advocating for our Jewish state, we're letting others write her story.
Thank you so much for your wonderful essay!!!!!!.....You are absolutely right about the Jews solidarizing with the " Palestinians ", I could not believe it when I saw their signs at the encampments at Columbia University in New York.....how could they be so stupid and ignorant?....I do remember as a child, when we didn't have Israel ......Am Israel Chai!!!!!!!!.....
Approximately 250 people were torn from their homes and communities in Israel, dragged across the border into Gaza, and hidden in tunnels and cages. Many have been returned to us, though far too many remain out of reach."
You literally failed to mention the 1,200 that were slaughtered on that day. I realize this is not the main point of your essay which of course I agree with but I have been troubled from day one that the posture of both Israelis and their supporters in the disaspora have been focused SOLELY on the hostages forgetting that Hamas murdered 1,000 more than they kidnapped. This war is being fought to make sure this cannot happen again.
Triumphing over history implies history has ended. It might be better to strike a note of caution, especially when dealing with those not fully in the Israel camp. Nobody buys another nations triumphalism.
Absolutely. There are many opportunities to advocate. I implore All to research and get going now. There are many amazing people who have put their lives on hold, who are making it easy for the rest of us. Since October 7th, we are creating change. From calling out Miss Rachel the Jew hater, and the companies, such as Target, to White House Wednesday, when millions of us,Baruch Hashem, call, to contributing money to pro-Jewish and pro-Israel causes, the list and opportunities are many. Am Israel Chai 🇮🇱 These are existential times for our People. Rage on!!!!
Adam, you confuse love for Israel with disdain for its government.
Israel is and must continue to remain a democracy, and the only way to express opposition to destructive policies that deepened divisions and emboldened enemies is to protest. Protest is not betrayal — it is loyalty in action. It is the voice of citizens who refuse to abandon their country to poor leadership.
Just as you would protest government policy or expressions of antisemitism in Toronto — without that ever being confused with hatred for Toronto or Canada — protest in Israel is an expression of love and concern for a homeland.
The hostages are not forgotten precisely because of protests or their families’ advocacy. They are forgotten because of the government’s failures. To conflate protest with abandonment shifts the blame away from where it belongs and weakens the very advocacy you rightly champion.
True love of Israel demands both defense against her enemies and accountability from her leaders.
Israel needs to do better. Shame on Israel after all their suffering and the suffering of the Jewish People for centuries, to perpetrate the suffering they are on Palestine. This action is unforgivable as Palestine's is unforgivable. "I became what I beheld" DO BETTER.
You are listening to lies of terrorists and ignorant of the true facts of the war and the FACTS of what Israel is doing that no other country EVER has done in urban warfare: This war has the lowest combat/civilian death rate of any other war in military history, and they supplying the enemy with aid. And more. Those are facts. Go look at statistics and understand the enemy Israel is facing that wants not land, but death to all Jews and Christians and any non-Muslim. Wake up.
Oh lord Susan! Do you really think Israel is responsible for the core suffering of “Palestinians”? You have to dig beneath the surface more ma’am. Do you see how Hamas brutalizes Gazans if they go vs their dogma with brutal beatings and killings? And the people that do parrot Hamas do not want a LITTLE land, they want all of it, awash with the blood of you and me. Wake up.
We need more pride and less apologetics

And that was on October 8th. Only one day after October 7th and before any Israeli response.
The Jew hatred at Columbia must have been coordinated with Hamas.
Qatar funds student groups at Columbia.
Same thing at other elite institutions in Canada and Europe.
Jew hatred has become the basic tenant of the Democrats and their followers.
Seems like that and TDS are well established in entitled white women.
"The unthinkable happened on October 7, 2023.

Actions speak. Shiva later.
Perfect commandment. Amen.
Great piece. Thank you for the words, inspiration and example.

History never ends.
Surviving persecution from all the vanished empires suggests something biblical, not triumphness.
Everyone survives. There is not a single entire ethnic group that has disappeared in human history. Even the Native American groups nearly wiped out by diseases have a genetic legacy. All groups intermarry to survive. Ashkenazi Jews are a prime case, they went through a genetic bottleneck and came out with a 50% Italian haplogroup. https://geneticliteracyproject.org/2013/10/08/ashkenazi-jewish-women-descended-mostly-from-italian-converts-new-study-asserts/
It’s a fascinating story but not one that tells of a singular and unbroken line of descent, much as it infuriates some.
An important point to make.

The wisdom of Shlomo from HaShem is needed to arrive at the victory.

Shabbat Shalom.

You are the victim of lies. You have fallen for it. It's what the enemy hopes for. That some supporters of Israel will believe their lies.
Spoken like a true death-cult supporter.
Marxist student or Jew killer - without any understanding of reality.
Parents must be proud.
Define Palestine; define Palestinian.
