I completely agree with you! The US is trying to pin everything on these tragic hostages. The fact is that the US and the UN should have immediately demanded the release of the hostages. I seriously wonder if any of these poor souls are still alive. The only real hope is for Israel to drive out and destroy Hamas. Otherwise this nightmare will happen again. Calling repeatedly for ceasefire is playing into these evil perpetrators hands. My heart breaks for the families involved, I can’t imagine their pain! However this has to be seen through to the end.

And if Israel goes this route, send all the Hamas prisoners back in body bags.

Kevin Miner's avatar

Hamas will never agree to any ceasefire that does not give then an upper hand. But Israel will be blamed if Hamas rejects any deal no matter what.

Richard Hacker's avatar

"Let my people go" worked on Pharaoh. It should work here too. Return all of the hostages or the 10 plagues will be visited upon Hamas and Gaza without apology and without remorse.

Thanks Joshua. Breaks my heart. Enough already. It was a Israeli/Palestinian hostage "deal" to app ease voters and the West that got Sinwar released to unleash horror Oct 7. Obviously American hostages mean nothing to the current US government. It is about votes. In my mind, this shows and proves to me that they have intentionally abandoned their own citizens and reward the depraved scum Hamas and their supporters, to win Jew-hating votes. It is simple - those American hostages are Jewish. Not a peep, not a word, no outrage, no demanding their release - just defending silence. They should be throwing their military might and everything else to at least get their people back. Sorry folks - they are Jewish, so let's captilise on their suffering to get more votes. The non-American hostages mean even less

Each day my heart hardens against the scum of the earth and my live for Israel grows exponentially. I can only hope that my prayers go from my lips straight to G-d's ears. There was NEVER a time to negotiate with Hamas - NEVER.

The Democrats/Kamala have finally got me convinced not that they’re just pandering for antisemitic votes but that they’ve bought-in to become co-owners of the hostages.

Robin Alexander's avatar

Yes, you have said something I've been thinking. First, I couldn't believe that there's not a word said about Americans being held; compare that to the Iran hostages in the late 70s / early 80s. Not a day went by without a countdown on every news channel. So, the obvious question is "why?" The obvious answer, as you have said - these hostages are Jews.

Michal S Mendelsohn's avatar

I am afraid that most of the hostages are dead. I don't believe in a ceasefire as a reward and I don't believe that all the hostages will be released. I have a suspicion that Hamas doesn't even know where they all are. This seems like a stop gap measure but the job is not done. What happens next? And although I am not a fan of Netanyahu, he had the right idea to wipe out Hamas. I have been a lifelong Democrat but never realized that the left is so far gone. But really, no one in his/her right mind should vote for Trump. He lies, cheats, steals and if you want to know his plans, google "project 2025" which is his bible created by his allies and the Heritage Foundation. So we have no choice in America now- vote for democracy or let our country fall into a dictatorship for the benefit of the billionaires. And the hostages? We all suffer but Israel has to make sure this doesn't happen again!

I'm sorry, but I completely disagree with you.

Honestly, the Republicans are the ONLY people standing with the Jews. The mainstream media (MSM), networks like CNN (Communist News Network), want people to believe everything they say. They have completely BRAINWASHED people.

Trumps "allies" may have wrote the book on Project 2025, but he knew nothing of it. This is the only thing that the DEMONcRATS can use against him other than the abortion issue because they know the USA was much better off when he was in office, than it is today. For example, with my monthly expenses in 2018, I still had money to save. Over the past 3 years, I've almost depleted my savings because it is costing me roughly $1K more a month than in 2020. I've had to budget a lot more for gas, food, utilities, etc. It's sickening.

I will say that in the House Congressional meetings, Republicans are the only people standing with Israel. This administration (Harris included) has done nothing but try to tear Israel down. They have more respect for the Islamists than you know.

I'm sorry that you feel that way about the Republicans, though. We're Israel's TRUE allies in the USA.

Michal S Mendelsohn's avatar

you really believe that Trump knew nothing about project 2025? and the US was not better off with Trump- he added 3 trillion to the deficit with tax cuts for the rich-as almost every Republican in office has done. I once worked for a fortune 500 co. for 7 years that made billions in profits and my boss thought it was just wonderful that they never paid any tax to the government! Fair? not close! totally unAmerican. The reason you had more money then was that the losses of the Pandemic had n ot reached us until later!

Crystal Huneycutt's avatar

I disagree, when Trump was in office, I paid $1.98 per gallon for gasoline, groceries per week went from $300 to currently $550 to eat organic, healthy food, and my utilities have doubled since Biden/Harris took office. We didn't have 19 million illegal aliens in the US either. If you compare policies between these two candidates, you'll see Harris/Walz do NOT stand for anything good for the citizens of the US.

Jeannette Nemon Fischman's avatar

I wholeheartedly agreed with everything you said UNTIL you stated that no one in their right mind should vote for Trump. He will never win Mr. Congeniality, but he will stand against terrorism. and protect Israel - -But you think Kamala Harris won't embrace Islamism & covertly sabotage Israel!? Fairyland on what planet are you on!?

Michal S Mendelsohn's avatar

He is a convicted felon! What about the rule of law or the peaceful transition of power don't YOU understand? He incited a riot and watched it get out of hand and did nothing to help the police. His own chief of staff begged him to call in the National Guard and he would not. People died, offices were looted, members of Congress had to hide in bomb shelters. This was treason! And he said"any election I lose is rigged against me"- how can you possibly believe that this person has your interests at heart.

Jeannette Nemon Fischman's avatar

I don't think he has all my best interests at heart. I never said that if you re-read my original post. What I essentially said was that Kamala Harris will be poison onto Israel & American Jews, & I'd rather vote for the convicted felon who, while very problematic, has a history of respecting & alliancing himself with Israel.

Michal S Mendelsohn's avatar

No way! And she's married to a very identified Jew!

Jeannette Nemon Fischman's avatar

NO!! He's not "very identified." It's a transparent ploy. He's an assimilated Jew who is only nuancing his Jewishness to help "Mamaleh" win Democratic Jewish votes!! His lovely daughter unabashedly siphons funds from her Palestinian Children's Charity to Hamas. Who gets the STUPID email stories from "The Kveller?" One recent one was of Emhoff's mother's Brisket. Other's have been equally ridiculous pieces trying painstakingly hard to paint an illusion of a folksy, Jewified Yiddishe Kamala/"Momaleh" that appeals to Jewish voters. You can put a Silk Suit on a Pig, but it's still traif. Both Kamala's covert & open comments about Israel overwhelmingly show a president who would hasten the demise of Israel. Make no mistake, she is NOT our "Momaleh!"

Crystal Huneycutt's avatar

I believe Michael Mendelson, "I am afraid that most of the hostages are dead."

News networks, such as CNN (Communist News Network) need to stop now with their rhetoric. They call Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. leaders rather than the terrorists they are!

People like Schumer, who are supposed to be "Jews" are nothing more than hypocrites. I've heard this moron speak, and I'm thinking how is this degenerate a "Jew." May he burn in hell for his rhetoric.

Furthermore, this government in the US needs to shut the hell up and give Israel what they need, whether it's warfare and/or troops. I'm stunned that Ukraine is free to do whatever, but not Israel. This administration didn't get my vote in 2020, and their backstabbing of Israel since last year, I hope this administration knows they've bit off more than they can chew because I'll never vote for enemies of the Jewish people.

I heard today that the terrorist group Hezbollah attacked Israel (Golan) today from the air. They targeted private homes. May God send the Hezbollah terrorists straight to hell where they belong. My prayers with all Jews around the world under attack. 🇮🇱

Steverino's avatar

Prayers are not that effective.

Crystal Huneycutt's avatar

All we have is prayer and the faith to believe!

Steverino's avatar

Then we are in worse shape than I thought.

Beatrice Nora Caflun's avatar

Totally agreed with you!.....As much as I would like the return of the hostages ASAP, do not agree.with the ceasefire at all, Do not trust the Democratic party, my humble opinion is that they do not care about us, jews .....Am Israel Chai......

Steven Brizel's avatar

Any ceasefire is a reward for the events of 10/7

Nancy F's avatar

If the Hamas had attacked Egypt or cypress no one would have noticed.

America is not a “friend “.

No one cares about dead Arabs unless they can blame the Jews.

Sylvan Changuion's avatar

Excellent writing Joshua. I do not know what is more sickening-blindly supporting and protesting for rapists and murderers OR the politicians intentional and callous using this tradegy to get VOTES. After Oct 7, when I heard t hgc at some hostages were Americans, I thought we'll now the shit is going to fly because the US voters will demand to "get its people back". Oh dear G-d how wrong I was. I have not heard any mention of, or any concern about the US hostages by US politicians or for that matter from the media. It is all about appeasing

Diane Steiner's avatar

A superb analysis, Joshua, and I totally agree with you. The pathetic posturing by Biden and his State Department is obvious and embarrassing. Politics is an evil business and it has never been more evident than with this administration. The lack of integrity, courage, and backbone is hard to believe, but when we see someone like the unJew, Chuck Schumer, boasting about being the highest ranking Jew in the history of the US, and 'coincidentally' releasing a book on the increase in anti-Semitism. How convenient, as if this seals the deal for his Jewishness. The other unJew, Doug Emhoff, bragging about Kamala making him a better Jew (comic relief provided by him), and how she makes a mean brisket. Because all of these things makes one such a better Jew. The clown parade was on full display at the DNC, but on a more serious note, a country, its people, and its hostages's lives are at stake. The DNC might want to take note, but the Progressives and the Muslim votes have them in knots and the Dems are eager to please them.

Daniel Rosenblatt's avatar

What do you say when you agree with everything being said? Do we need one more opinion? I am not sure. I do take solace that there are more people who feel as I.

The only thing I feel compelled to say is, first and foremost, I stand with Israel. Secondly, tRump is not a friend to any of us. At least with the democratic party in control, I hope we can help Harris see what the correct path forward is. One must pick and choose his path when it is blocked by heavy thorny bushes. Only with careful effort can we find a way through. But there can never be an progress if you can not speak openly to your allies. We must never lose sight of the fact that tRump is not an allie of free democratic people. He would not help any situation that we are currently facing. The path forward is thorny and difficult but if we choose the correct path we can find the solution. Shalom

Crystal Huneycutt's avatar

Daniel, I appreciate things you stated, but if you believe that Harris has your back, YOU'VE BEEN DECEIVED! I'm a Christian, and I was raised to always stand with Israel because they are God’s people. I have friends who are Jews from everywhere. They are good people. Regardless of what you've been told, many Christians (Republicans) stand with Israel and Jews from everywhere. Please be advised and careful about the deceit in the Democratic Party.

Daniel Rosenblatt's avatar

Dear Crystal, you are correct. My hope is that Harris can hear reason. We had no hope of anything with dear leader. You can only make progress with compromise. You can not compromise with a dictator. We have to be watchful of the new Muslim movement to obtain political power here then turn around and use our system against us. That is the real threat.

Crystal Huneycutt's avatar

Believe me, I'm very careful. I research everything prior to making statements. Anyone who believes Harris has been DECEIVED! SHE'S THE COMMUNIST AND DICTATOR! Harris appeases to the Muslims here in the USA. She's not for the Jews or other citizens of the USA. She's ONLY for the illegals. They get handouts for everything. How long before a terrorist attack in this land? You have no hope with her.

Alfred Harder's avatar

3 things need to happen:

1) Hamas and Hezbollah MUST be destroyed!

2) Iran's Economy must be crippled!

3) Netanyahu MUST go!

Steverino's avatar

Josh you are correct in everything you say. But you have to ask HOW’S IT WORKING FOR US? And if it’s not working what is the alternative?

Albert Koeman's avatar

It is probably possible to wipe out Hamas, but the amount of violence needed to destroy the subterrean infrastructure where the terrorist are hiding would likely kill the remaining hostages and a substantial amount of civilians on top.

Even mr. Nethanyahu realises Israel is fighting this war according to the design of mr. Sinwar: the military defeat outweighs by far the Palestinian public relations victory.

For him, civilian victims are the necessary martyrs , so Israel should stop to oblige him.

It is all about what kind of ceasefire is negociated - one that allows Hamas to rebuild its military structure or one that gives Israel (and the international community) the opportunity to prevent another october, 6.

Mr. Nethanyahu is not my guy, but I trust he knows what he is doing by agreeing to the American proposals.

Laura's avatar

If they had a shred of moral clarity rather than pandering to fringe pro-terrorist, antisemitic extremist crazies within their base, the Harris/Biden regime and for that matter every other western government would be demanding the terrorists surrender unconditionally and release ALL of the terrorists or they will give their full throated support for Israel to hunt down the terrorists and wipe them out wherever they are and backing it up with offensive arms to Israel. The west should be supporting a policy of Israeli victory, not for phony ceasefire deals to keep hamas intact and still viable and hostages still being held.
