Twenty-five years later, many in the West have forgotten the warning about ideology, extremism, and the dangers of explaining away those who tell us exactly what they believe.
The West forgot because the West never understood the threat. President Bush falsely claimed that Islam was a religion of peace and his claim was thereafter echoed by the leaders of the western world, most notably David Cameron. Then the West claimed the two-state solution was the answer to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and its leaders still claim, falsely and with no justification, that the Palestinians deserve a state. The Palestinians never adopted the Jewish idea of the two-state solution, fostered by the Israeli left, because they only desire the disappearance of the Zionist state and have done so for over a century. Historical and sociological ignorance in the West predated 9/11 and is still strong and well there. British foreign and colonial policy during the Mandate period contributed to this ignorance and the recent stand by the Labour government in the UK carries on this tradition, exposed to the chancelleries of the Western world.
Always remember that the mass murder on 9/11 was an attack on America by religious Moslems in the name of Islam. They cited the Koran. Vote accordingly.

And where is your proof that millions of muslims reject al qaeda? I don't see any mass movement of muslims resisting terrorism in the name of islam. Quite the contrary. This is wishful thinking on the part of westerners. Frankly I'm sick of hearing it.

Whizjet .. electing a Muslim mayor who has such disdain for Israel, and the consequential effect on Jews, might not be surprising, but it is certainly repulsive. The direction of left wing Democrats is dangerous .. western societies are experiencing a colonial endeavour by islamists and whilst it may be dressed up as tolerance, politically correct and fashionable, it is a destructive cancer waiting to explode.

I do wonder if 911 had something to do with major institutions putting their offices further and further away from downtown. The NYSE now has all the energy of a bingo game these days, and the major banks seem to have crawled up to Midtown, and are now eyeing Florida and Texas.

It is not disturbing, per se, that New York, the city of the Twin Towers, would elect a Muslim mayor.
But it is at least interesting to see that 100s of thousands of 9/11 families want him to stay away from the memorial service.
