Prior to October 7th, when rockets were continuously being launched into Israel on a daily basis, I used to wonder how did Israelis sleep at night. Then came October 7th and that question never left thinking about the people and the hostages. Your thoughts and emotions are so human after that horrific experience, and all the people and events you have mentioned in Jewish history is the miracle that is Jewish. Survival, perseverance, strength, and courage have created the country of Israel. You and the Israeli people will prevail, and know that many people around the world are praying for Israel and its citizens. Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts and emotions about the unthinkable.
I have profound and deep respect for the Jewish people. While I am a Gentile Christian, I have no doubt of the love of God for His chosen people. Their history is phenomenal and I find great inspiration in all of them. I continue to pray for Israel, the IDF, the hostages. Only God can heal this wound.
This Gentile Christian is horrified daily at the vitriol expressed against Jews and Israel in the US. Never would have believed that this could happen. Prayers and support.
Our long history is filled with miraculous events that defy explanation. Despite the odds stacked against us, the Jewish nation endures a constant reminder that we are not meant to understand everything.
We have been witness to countless insane and unpredictable miracles throughout our history, each one defying logic and reason. But even when all seems lost, the Jewish nation endures, a testament to an unfathomable plan set in motion by God Himself. In the face of impossible odds, we persist, clinging to the promise He made us long ago. And when all hope seems lost, salvation arrives in the blink of an eye, catching us off guard like a thief in the night. It's mind-boggling, almost too much for our mortal minds to comprehend.
Yet here we are, still standing, still fighting against all odds.
Crazy? Perhaps. But it's our reality, and we will continue defying the laws of nature until the end.
Reads like a large number of David’s Psalms are especially when he was fleeing from Saul: starts off where he is, in fear, betrayed, exhausted and depressed-finishes with him recalling the long history of God rescuing His people, praising God and standing up to look up again. Minor quibble: wasn’t it Daniel in the furnace? And Abraham who ACTED on his ‘crazy thoughts’ ie took off from his father’s home with his family and goods, with no clue where other than ‘to a land that I will show you’? Your heart and mind are in the right place. Courage! God bless you and keep you. Am Yisroel Chai!
You are not alone. Jews in the diaspora, at least the intelligent ones, have crazy thoughts as well not that different from yours, even if the immediate threat of physical annihilation is not as acute. Hopefully they will lead to massive aliyah to Israel.

Generational trauma is real. Look at what the Jewish people have created in Israel and around the world despite it. That’s the true miracle.
Holding you and all Israelis in our hearts, Shayna.
Thank you for sharing these personal reflections. I can’t imagine the collective PTSD going on in Israel. 🙏🙏

It's utterly insane yet undeniably true.
Touching thoughts. Thank you!
